Latest Invention In Mobile Phones - Universal Charging Ports

In the past decade or so, as mobile phones have gained in popularity, and more and more companies have started making phones, the number of different types of phone charger available has ballooned.
Nokia, Samsung, Palm, Motorola, Blackberry, Apple and so on have all had different charging ports meaning that, for example, a Samsung charger won’t charge up a Nokia phone and so on.
This means that hunting for a new charger for your phone can be a very frustrating experience. You need to know at least what brand your phone is to stand a chance of buying the right model.
Worse, some manufacturers - most notably Samsung and Nokia - have also brought out new phones with a new charging point recently. So now you even need to know what model you have as well as the make, if you want to buy a charger.
Worse, if you have an older phone, with the older charging point, getting hold of a suitable charger can be like looking for a needle in a haystack because most stores only stock chargers for the very latest handsets.
Annoying enough if you want to buy a mains charger, but doubly annoying if you also want a car charger for your phone too.
Luckily though, things look like they are starting to change. Reports have recently arrived at the Latest Inventions office that a number of mobile phone manufacturers including Nokia and Apple have signed an agreement that they will shortly be producing mobile phone handsets that all use the same charging point.
This means that one charger should be able to charge all sorts of different phones, which makes buying a new charger far easier. Oh, and incase there are any nerds out there wondering what charging point they have all agreed on, it seems they are going with the mini-USB plug.
